As many of you might know, I am knitting quite a lot for my kids. It only occurred to me, when autumn arrived, that I don’t have a warm sweater in my closet that wasn’t worn out. I rarely buy new clothes and when I do they are second hand.
And then I thought, why not knit something for myself?
Knitting and sewing my own wardrobe seems so amazing, because you can choose whatever you want and like.
I own quite a few knitting books, but mostly children patterns.
So I went online in search of patterns. There are a few websites out there that provide free patterns like Drops Design and even Ravelry has some free patterns if you want to start knitting but not yet purchase a pattern.
So when I saw the Leaf Sweater Design my heart skipped a beat. I found it on Ravlery but purchased it on the Designers Website „The Knit Stitch“. And because I liked the Leaf Top as well, I purchased the bundle. (I will be knitting the Leaf Top in spring)
After reviewing the pattern and the description I decided for Rico Design’s creative soft wool aran in the color 008 which is a subdued rose color. And it reminds me of autumn.
As all projects I start, I can’t wait to get them finished. And after the long knitting time, I had the front and the back finished. I sewed the shoulders together and tried it on before I moved on to knitting the sleeves.
Knitting the sleeves was pretty smooth. I knew the pattern so well, I didn’t even needed to look at the chart anymore.
But I modified the hem a little bit. I wanted the fit on my wrists a little bit tighter so I chose other needles than recommended. I am really happy with the result and I love to wear it!
